Have you ever wondered how wine aficionados taste and evaluate a wine?
They use the visual first … evaluating the color and clarity of the wine. Then they look at the opacity which helps determine the age of the wine and to see how much sediment there is.
Next is the smell … you’ve probably seen people swirling their glasses of wine. First a quick sniff … then with nose placed deeply in the glass, a deep inhale.
Next there is the taste which has 3 phases … attack, evolution and finish. Or in lay terms, the initial impression, the taste on the palate and how long the taste remains after the swallow.
